Faculty, Staff and Students are invited to sign up for official MIAD text alerts at: www.miad.edu/textalert .
This system will be used in cases of unscheduled closings (such as snow days), emergencies, and other urgent and important situations.
The messages are sent by SMS text, and also (if you choose) by email. You may also choose email-only notifications. Depending on your plan, you may be charged by your phone provider for SMS messages received.
This system is completely voluntary and designed to be managed by you. You’ll be asked to set up a password when you sign up. This will allow you to make changes to your account later on. For example, you may wish to change your notification phone number, or your wireless carrier. You can even cancel the service if that’s what you prefer.
To sign up, go to www.miad.edu/text alert .
Please note: this is a new system. If you signed up for the old system last year, you must sign up for this system to receive the text messages. The only way to sign up for this system is by using the form at www.miad.edu/textalert .
MIAD’s Inclement Weather Policy
If a decision is made to cancel classes due to dangerous weather a notice will be placed on our website, www.miad.edu. We will also send the information to WTMJ – Channel 4 and WISN – Channel 12.
If classes are canceled, food service will still be provided to our students in our residence hall. Staff will not be required to report to work when classes are canceled.
In the case of overnight storms, we will make a decision to cancel classes no later than 7:00 a.m.
Please note that closing the college or canceling classes will no longer be based on the decisions made for the Milwaukee Public Schools.
Go to www.miad.edu or tune into Channel 4 or 12 for current information on bad weather days.
