The details…
The MIAD Café is open Monday through Friday for breakfast, lunch, and into the evening for
snacks. Hot breakfast, specialty coffee, bakery, soup, sandwiches, salads, and a daily hot meal are available. The Café is your place to hang out, do homework and grab a bite to eat. Meals are on average $5 – $6.

You may purchase a meal plan in advance for the MIAD Café. This eliminates the need to worry about bringing a lunch or carrying cash every day. The Meal plan will be added to your Student ID Card. The meal plan is good for purchases in the MIAD Café only. A continuing balance is maintained in the food service database. You can ask the cashier at any time to tell you how much is remaining on your ID card.

Note: If you are living at MIAD’s Residence Hall (The Park at 1824) you have been enrolled in a MIAD Cafe Meal plan at the rate of $250 per semester. You may wish to increase your meal plan and you can do so by filling out this form.

You will receive an email receipt. Please print out this receipt until your student ID card is activated. Funds remaining on the meal card at the end of the fall semester can be carried over to the spring semester. However, funds remaining at the end of the spring semester are forfeited.

Continuing Education’s Open Figure Drawing

The details… This is an opportunity to draw from a live model without instruction. One model provides a variety of quick and sustained poses. MIAD students and alumni are $3 per session.

Student parking

The details… Just a friendly reminder that you must have a parking permit to park in the student lot. If you have already purchased a parking permit please stop by the security desk to pick up your permit. If you have not purchased a permit yet and wish to do so please fill out the online parking registration form and submit it. There are still 10 permits left and they will go fast. We will give students until Monday to purchase a permit before we start enforcing the parking rules. If you park in the student lot without a permit and are ticketed you will have to pay the ticket, no exceptions. The lot has also been re-striped. Remember that students park in the yellow spaces only. The white spaces are reserved. Do not park in the white spaces or you will be ticketed. Do not park in or block the aisles. Labor Day Weekend events – Harley’s 110th & Third Ward Art Fair

The details… Harley-Davidson is celebrating its 110th Anniversary this weekend!

See bikes from all generations during North Ave. street parties, a parade of Harley motorcycles on Saturday, and more!

The Third Ward is also holding an Art Fair this weekend, Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Broadway. There will be live music and fun activities at this free event.

LRC TIP OF THE WEEK: Time is of the Essence – 30 Minutes Can Save Time!

The details… Isn’t using your time wisely worth consideration? By spending 30 minutes with a trained tutor to focus exclusively on a writing assignment, you can be better prepared with ideas, a strong thesis, and/or possibly an outline of your paper before you even sit down to write! The writing process is significantly shorter if you don’t have to be making decisions about what to write, what is important to include, what will make your ideas stronger, and how to structure the paper, all while trying to compose the actual draft!

So if you have a paper to write, sign up for a 30-minute appointment in the LRC today! Peer tutors are available Monday-Thursday 11-6 pm. Email if you are having trouble finding a time that work for you.

Graphic Design Internship at Skylight Music Theatre

The details… Skylight Music Theatre is now accepting resumes for a Graphic Design Intern. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong portfolio and get hands-on experience working on a variety of materials. Graphic designers will be working with marketing, development and education departments.

This internship is unpaid but may be offered for class credit. Additionally, all interns will receive two free tickets to each Skylight show. Hours are flexible but must occur during regular business hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Hours per week: 15

Responsibilities may include:
The graphic design intern will work with the staff doing the following:
• Produce/design printed materials such as print ads, web ads, fliers, posters, postcards, brochures and enews blasts.
• Other design projects as needed. Interns in the past have created invitations and programs for Skylight’s annual gala, materials for the Broadway Theatre Center Open House and pieces for special marketing and development campaigns.
Qualifications Include:
• Must be currently enrolled (Junior or Senior status) and pursuing degree in Graphic Design
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign
• Organizational and project management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Transportation to the Broadway Theatre Center
