LRC Tip of the Week: MAINTAINING: Stay on Top of Your Game Plan

Article *
Mid-semester suggestions:

Eat well. Choose a wide variety of healthy, nutritious foods. Eat regularly to keep up your energy. Limit late-night raids to get pizza. Do, however, consume enough food to feel and perform your best.

Get enough sleep. Sleep is vital to your mental well-being. Go to bed at a reasonable hour. Wake up at roughly the same time every day. Keep your room dark and quiet at night.

New Perspectives Gallery Exhibition: HANNAH PRICE “CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE”

Article *
Perspectives Gallery is excited to open its newest exhibition: HANNAH PRICE: CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE. Please take a moment to see the show and share with others you think will be interested.

Here’s a NPR article about the work, which explores the dynamics between the photographer and the men who catcall her on the streets of Philadelphia:

Hannah Price’s statement about COBL:

This project documents a part of my life as an African Mexican-American, transitioning from suburban Colorado to consistently being harassed on the streets of Philadelphia. These images are a response to my subjects looking at me, and myself as an artist looking back.

A little bit about Hannah Price:

Raised in Fort Collins, Colorado, Hannah Price (b. 1986) is a photographic artist and filmmaker primarily interested in documenting relationships, race politics, perception and misperception. Price is internationally known for her project City of Brotherly Love (2009-2012), a series of photographs of the men who catcalled her on the streets of Philadelphia. In 2014, Price graduated from the Yale School of Art MFA Photography program, receiving the Richard Benson Prize for excellence in photography. Over the past six years, Price’s photos have been displayed in several cities across the United States, with a few residing in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Currently, Ms. Price lives and works in Philadelphia, PA.

Although written with teachers in mind, Kelly McGonigal writes an article,

4 Powerful Mindsets for Turning Stress Into a Positive Force,

which has much to say to all of us on the issue of dealing with stress. LRC tutors are all about “positive mindsets,” so they wanted to share this with the MIAD community.
