MU Counseling Center is hosting a presentation on perfectionism by Lee Neagle, M.A. Executive Director of Aloria Health Institute of Education and Research.

“In our society, generally speaking being seen as a perfectionist is considered a positive trait, it invokes images of a disciplined, hardworking, and meticulous individual. The reality is much more bleak as struggling with perfectionism leaves individuals with feelings of insecurity and constant dissatisfaction. Throughout this discussion we will review the consequences of perfectionism both physically and emotionally while also reviewing ways we can be more mindful and compassionate with ourselves while staying goal oriented.”

Appetizers and drinks will be provided.

LRC Tip of the Week: Learning to say, “LATER”!

Article *
Postponing tasks or routines that can be put off until your school work is finished can be the most difficult challenge of time management for college students. It is tempting to succumb to unexpected opportunities that look appealing,. The result can sometimes be seen in poor performance on a test, on a paper, or in a work of art. The trick is to remember that distracting activities will be more enjoyable later without the pressure of the test, assignment, etc. hanging over your head. Try to think in different terms. You are not missing out on something fun, you are postponing the opportunity. Instead of saying “no” learn to say “later”.
