Foundations Exhibition

There will be a Foundations Juried Exhibition reception this Thursday starting at 11:15 AM in the East Gallery (by cafeteria).

You are invited to view the work created by some of our 1st year students.  These students are extremely proud of being included in the exhibition and would appreciate your presence at the reception.

This year’s juror was Mark Klassen, chair of the art department at Beloit College and a noted artist with a national recognition.
We had over 275 submissions from the students and ultimately 45 works were chosen.  He will give a short speech around 11:30 and announce the award winners (1st, 2nd and two 3rd place winners).

Please come help celebrate and check out the strong exhibition put on by the Foundations students.

Press Release:

Dateline MIAD. PBJ rocks.

Recent research has discovered that eating just one Peanut butter & Jelly sandwich rather than a hamburger saves about 280 gallons of water, 12 to 50 square feet of land from deforestation, over-grazing, pesticide and fertilizer pollution while reducing your carbon footprint by 2.5 pounds.

To celebrate the planet saving power of the humble PB&J the MIAD Café will host “Peanut Butter and Jelly Day” on Earth Day Thursday April 22 2010.

We will have a PB&J bar set up in the Café as part of the lunch and dinner meals. We will offer different breads, jellies and jams as well as creamy and chunky peanut butter. So come show your support for Mother Earth, save a cow and help the planet all while eating a delicious creamy sandwich treat!

It is a win-win type of lunch situation.
