TED Conference at MIAD

The details… TED Conference 2010
February 10-13
Brooks Stevens Gallery

Hello all,

Check out TED2010 (Google) to get a sense of the magnitude of the TED conference and the opportunity for our students. An anonymous donor is paying the fee to have it broadcast live for the entire four day conference.

The Brooks Stevens Gallery has been reserved for this event to make it easy and assessable for intermittent viewing by students, faculty and staff.

Steve White is preparing this set up for us.

A link to the TED 2010 has been provided above. When viewing the TED program page, click on the alpha list to get the speakers’ backgrounds. (When looking at the schedule, please note the 2 hour time difference)

Viewing the TED 2010 segments might be appropriate to some classes to view segments of during class time, but I will leave that to faculty discretion. TED Conference presentations are always thoughtful, sharp, and professionally crisp and smart. It’s a great chance for synergy and serendipity.

Student Cartoon Blog

The details… Junior animation major Mitchell Vizensky started a comic website called Toilet Rice Cartoons. It’s updated daily by a different artist every day from all different majors at MIAD. The website features seven talented and hilarious artists including Ryan Haering, Sarah Foss, David Beyer, Punyaruk Baingern, Kaycie Dunlap, and Mitchell Vizensky. Its a new website and we’re still trying to tie some loose ends so if anyone else would like to get involved in Toilet Rice we’d love to have them. We also allow guest artists to show their comics every saturday. Its an opportunity for an outside artist to show their work and it draws more traffic to our site. If you’d like to be a guest on Toilet Rice, or you’d like to just help make improvements in some way e-mail Mitchell at
