Partners – Homelessness

In their junior year, all MIAD students complete a four credit Social Science course (HS380), which includes 35 hours of service in the Milwaukee metro area. Below is a list of over 200 organizations committed to strengthening the community, utilizing both grassroots and well-established means. MIAD students and alumni have worked with all of these organizations to better understand the issues that they deal with and to give of their time and energy.

Cathedral Center:

To provide a safe environment for women and families while working to end homelessness, one life at a time.

The Guest House of Milwaukee, Inc. provides shelter, housing, education and services to Milwaukee’s homeless who seek to transform their lives with dignity and purpose.

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity transforms lives and our city by providing simple, decent and affordable housing for Milwaukee families in need.

HALO:

The Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization, Inc. (HALO) is a 120 bed emergency shelter located at 2000 DeKoven Avenue in Racine, WI. HALO meets emergency shelter needs for all men, women and children who are experiencing homelessness, coordinates supportive services that help homeless adults become self-sufficient, provides community leadership to prevent chronic homelessness and ensures children get positive support through stable living and learning environments.

Milwaukee Rescue Mission:

In response to the command of Jesus, we compassionately serve to help make whole the hungry, homeless and poor in body, mind and spirit for the glory of God. “…to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter…Isaiah 58:7.”

Repairers of the Breach:

Repairers of the Breach is Greater Milwaukee’s grassroots homeless outreach, provider of the area’s only daytime shelter and resource center for homeless people.
