Partners – Meal Programs and Co-ops

In their junior year, all MIAD students complete a four credit Social Science course (HS380), which includes 35 hours of service in the Milwaukee metro area. Below is a list of over 200 organizations committed to strengthening the community, utilizing both grassroots and well-established means. MIAD students and alumni have worked with all of these organizations to better understand the issues that they deal with and to give of their time and energy.

House of Peace Food Pantry:

Based on Gospel values, the House of Peace serves the community by assisting families and individuals in meeting their spiritual, material, and emotional needs, thereby helping families remain together and promoting self-sufficiency.

Hunger Task Force:

Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. Hunger Task Force works to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger free community tomorrow.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin:                                           

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is a food bank that works with a network of hunger relief partners to distribute more than 18.3 million meals a year to 377,000 people in eastern Wisconsin. We have facilities in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley.

Riverwest Co-op:

The Riverwest Co-­op and the Co-op Café are dedicated to providing the community with nutritious, wholesome food and are proud to feature organic and local ingredients.

St. Vincent de Paul:                                                                                                               

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of lay persons which seeks, in a spirit of justice and charity, and by person- to-person involvement of its members, to help those who are suffering, by loving and serving their neighbor. Vincentian helping can include any person-to-person assistance that promotes human dignity and integrity. The Society is concerned not only with relieving need but also with addressing the situations that cause it.
