A letter from Dean of Students Tony Nowak –
MIAD will be conducting HOUSING REGISTRATION WEEK during the week of March 3 – 7, 2014. This year’s Housing Priority Registration Deadline is March 21, 2014. An information table will be located in the lower level of the main lobby.
Hours are:
Monday, March 3: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 4: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Wednesday, March 5: 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday, March 6: 2 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The week after Spring Break the information table will again be open during the same hours as well as Friday, March 21, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Representatives will be available to answer questions, help with forms, and collect deposits and completed applications. We strongly encourage your student to pick up the materials during registration week, bring them home and complete them, then return them to MIAD with the housing deposit after Spring Break. We will have the registration table open again the week after Spring Break to collect forms and deposits.
As you have heard, our new student housing facility will be open for Fall 2014. We’re excited about the change this will bring to MIAD. Students will be able to live on campus and walk directly across the street to school. We believe this will significantly enhance your student’s MIAD experience. We strongly encourage you to register as EARLY as possible. While the housing deadline is Friday, March 21, roommate and room location preferences will be honored on an “in order received” basis. We will make every attempt to honor preferences, but the sooner your student submits the materials, the more likely they can be honored.
WHO NEEDS TO REGISTER FOR MIAD HOUSING:
Starting this Fall, all incoming Freshmen and returning Sophomores are required to reside in MIAD housing unless the student meets one of the following criteria:
living with parents within 45 miles of campus
is at least 21 years of age; is married; is a custodial parent
has special needs that cannot be met at Two50Two
If your student is currently a Freshman and will be returning as a Sophomore in Fall 2014, they will need to register by the Friday, March 21, 2014 deadline. This year, we anticipate a limited number of openings for Upper Classmen as well. If your student is currently a Sophomore (or Junior) and would like to enjoy the convenience and value of living in our housing, they may also apply (there has been particular recent interest from several Juniors who will be working on Senior Projects next year – the convenience of living across the street from studio is appealing!). If your student registers early, he/she will likely have the opportunity to live at Two50Two this fall.
Does your student need a little nudge to get their paperwork in? This year, due to the shift in the housing registration deadline, we’re providing a great incentive for students who submit their applications by the March 21st deadline: the first 100 students will receive a $250 BLICK gift card. The next 50 will receive a $100 gift card. Applications will be available at the information table as well as on-line at www.two50two.com/application
