The entire MIAD community &#8211; students, faculty and staff &#8211; have been asked to take the following preventive measures.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap.<\/li>\n<li>Use hand sanitizers and surface wipes, which have been placed throughout the college. Maintenance staff are wiping down handrails and communal surfaces daily.<\/li>\n<li>Get immunized for the flu (various locations around the city, see below)<\/li>\n<li>If you are sick with the flu, stay home. Contact your health care provider.<\/li>\n<li>Students should email their faculty and inform them they are absent due to the flu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more-->For those students who have not yet gotten a flu shot, Marquette University\u2019s Student Health Center is getting another shipment of the vaccine on Tuesday 1\/15.\u00a0 Students desiring the vaccine should call to set up an appointment (288-7184) and notify the MU receptionist that they are making an appointment to have a flu shot to confirm that vaccine is on hand. Students with MIAD insurance are covered at no cost. Those without MIAD insurance will pay $20.00. The flu shot is the MU Health Center\u2019s \u201cblue light special \u201c of the week!<\/p>\n<p>Students who are ill with the flu should call the Marquette Health Center at 288-7172.<\/p>\n<p>A partial list of additional locations to receive the flu shot are (students should always all ahead to ensure that the vaccinations are on hand):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Walgreens<\/li>\n<li>CVS<\/li>\n<li>Kmart<\/li>\n<li>Walmart<\/li>\n<li>Target<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We wish our students all the best for the spring semester.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Nowak, Dean of Students<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The flu season is here, with serious outbreaks of the flu nationwide.
