The last month has been a flurry of activity with studio projects wrapping up and final exams. With all of this activity, I am sure it was easy to overlook some important information about MIAD’s student housing for next year. After all, the Fall Semester feels like a distant time and place.

I am writing to personally invite you to consider (or in some cases reconsider) the exceptional opportunity we have with our new MIAD student apartments available for the first time this fall. Perhaps you have decided to have your student live at home. Perhaps your student is discussing options for living off campus. Before you make a final decision, I encourage you to consider the following:

1. Living on campus will maximize your student’s MIAD experience. By living on campus, your student will have the epic opportunity to live in the Third Ward, one of Milwaukee’s best urban neighborhoods. In addition to the convenience of living across the street from school, the Third Ward is Milwaukee’s hub for creative agencies, art galleries, theaters and boutiques. Your student will have access to these potential employment and networking opportunities. Even if your student is exempt from the MIAD student housing requirement, I strongly encourage you to consider the benefits to living directly on campus … in the heart of the Third Ward.

2. Your student can stay in MIAD housing over the summer. Student housing can seem inconvenient when considering year-round housing alternatives (e.g., students must leave dorms in the summer). MIAD is currently offering students the option to stay over the summer for a nominal housing/utility charge of $300 a month per student. When considering the cost of housing over the entire year, this is indeed a bargain for a furnished apartment in the Third Ward.

3. The cost of MIAD student housing includes all utilities, internet and cable. Your housing cost is “all inclusive” with no hidden charges. If your student chooses the all-year option, this equates to $700 a month, with all utilities and furnishings included. When considering transportation costs, this is a good deal in any neighborhood. In the Third Ward, it is unprecedented.

4. We have convenient payment plans available. If you need to pay in monthly installments, MIAD will work you to develop a payment plan that works for your family.

5. If the cost seems prohibitive we encourage you to exhaust all opportunities for additional financial support through financial aid. If you would like your son or daughter to live in the MIAD apartments but do not believe you can afford it, contact Financial Aid before making a final decision.

We are very excited about our new housing. There are so many good reasons to take advantage of the incredible opportunity offered by living directly on campus. While the beginning of the school year does seem far away, we encourage you to finalize your housing arrangement as soon as possible. You can apply on-line at two50two.com.

If you have any questions about our housing program, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Have a wonderful summer!

Sincerely,

Neil Hoffman
President

May 29, 2014 Dear MIAD Parents: I am sure your MIAD student is sighing a big breath of relief now that school is finished and summer is officially here.
