Parent/Partner Day on Saturday, October 22, is designed specifically for parents and those who fulfill this role. It’s an opportunity for you to better understand your student’s educational experience and to strengthen your role as your student’s coaches and mentors, whether your son or daughter is a freshman or a senior. We hope you’ll join those Parents who have made Parent/Partner Day an annual event, especially because we’ve expanded opportunities to see the totality of the MIAD experience that weekend!
The formal Parent/Partner Day program runs from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd (schedule below), with lunch, tours of areas galleries and classes/demonstrations taught by members of the MIAD community and alumni. You’ll also enjoy tours of MIAD galleries, including the exhibit “Generation Next,” works by visual artists under 30 who will make the next significant contribution to the cultural life of the city. (Look for MIAD alumni among them!)
This year’s Parent/Partner program was planned to coincide with several other major events at the college. One is the Student/Alumni Art Sale on October 20 -22, which affords you an opportunity to see the breadth of work by students of all years and by generations of alumni. All students have been invited to participate in this event, which is eagerly awaited by the Milwaukee community. The Preview Party is Thursday, October 20, with an admission of $20, but check your mail, because we’ve sent you two complimentary tickets. The event also runs Friday, 5 – 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., with free admission. Proceeds benefit the participants.
The weekend of the 22nd is also the Alumni Reunion Weekend. Both the Art Sale and the Alumni Reunion Weekend will broaden your and your student’s opportunities to engage with one another and with alumni, who play a key role in the MIAD experience and whose career paths provide invaluable insights to students of all class years.

- 1:00 p.m. – Section 1 Classes – Parents & Alumni Only
- 2:30 p.m. – Section 2 Tours of Galleries – Parents & Students
- 4:00 p.m. – Keynote Address – Parents, Students & Alumni
- 5 p.m. – Meet for a Celebratory Drink and Reception with Alumni
